How do I rent items to use as props for my styling/film/event work?
It’s simple! Pop into the shop and let us know that you’re looking to rent items. We can help you track down what you’re after, or you’re free to browse to see what speaks to you. Once you’ve made your selection, we’ll ask you to fill out our Rental Agreement (linked below), and we’ll discuss details of timing and payment.
Do you have a price list for you vintage rentals?
No, we do not have a price list that we can send you. Our inventory changes constantly, so your best bet is to come into the shop and see what we have for yourself. Prices will be marked on each piece, and our Rental Agreement lays out the percentage fee we charge for renting each piece.
How long is the rental period?
The rental period for each item is 48-hours. This gives you roughly a day for pick-up, a day for use, and a day for returns. Need it longer? We are happy to work with you and try to accommodate your schedule. Note that pick-ups and returns must take place during our regular business hours, so if you pick up your rental items on Saturday, we’ll extend the rental period to 72 hours in order for you to return your items on Tuesday.
Items kept longer than the period agreed to in your Rental Agreement will be charged an additional day’s rental fee for each day they are late.
Do I need a special vehicle to pick-up items?
All furniture items must be picked up in a fully enclosed vehicle; no open pickup trucks will be accepted for pick-up. Furniture must be strapped down with ratchet straps to prevent it from falling during transit, and must be protected from scratches, staining or other damage with padded moving blankets. Smaller items may be picked-up in any type of vehicle.
May I paint or otherwise alter the items I’ve rented?
Nope! In rare cases, we may allow you to make alterations that we believe improve a piece (painting it, upholstering it, etc), but unless we’ve given you written prior authorization as part of your Rental Agreement, alterations are strictly prohibited. (Note that this includes cleaning pieces where patina may be part of their charm).
What if I damage the item(s) I’ve rented?
It can happen to the best of us. If an item is lost, broken or damaged, please let us know right away, and do not try to clean or repair it yourself. When you return the item with the rest of your rental pieces, we’ll make a preliminary assessment or whether the item will need repair or replacement. If the item can be repaired, we’ll charge you that cost, plus a $50 flat fee for staff time to manage the repair. Alternately, if the item must be replaced, we’ll need to charge you the item’s full price.
Where are we located?
Our shop is located at 68 Exchange Street, Lynn, MA 01901. We are open Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 5pm, and Saturday, 10am to 6pm. If you can’t make it during our business hours, contact us about scheduling an off-hours appointment.
